Peer-to-Peer Social Change Sites

The next Net Tuesday is this week!   It will be October 7,  from 6:30–8:30 PM at Independents Hall, the coworking place at 32 Strawberry Street in Olde City.

This Net Tuesday is looking better and better.  The focus of the evening will be “peer to peer social change sites” — those websites which enable individuals, non-profits and others to provide convenient, grassroots support for one another’s causes.

  • How do these sites work, and what can they do?
  • How can you or your organization use them to attract and engage supporters?
  • What’s coming next?

We’ve lined up a great panel of three presenters (bios further below):

  1. Ivan Boothe will give an overview, and preview a major initiative of change.org, scheduled to launch this week.
  2. Kane Bender will talk about YouChoose.net, which he co-founded, and their “distributed social network“.
  3. Hatef Yamini will discuss Care2, where he was Business Development Manager.
Special thanks to our sponsor for this evening, Evolve Strategies, a full-service communications firm, which uses new media technology to serve issue advocacy, nonprofit, and political organizations.

RSVP’s via the Meetup page are appreciated, but not required.  Feel free to just show up!  But please try to get there by 6:30; we’ve got a very full program, and many folks will want to get home to watch the presidential debate at 9:00.
